Whispers of the Azure Wild

I donated the following poem to the Reid Park Zoo.

Whispers of the Azure Wild

by: Drakovi Bloodrose

In lands afar, where forests dense,

Where Africa's heart beats wild and immense,

A pair of duikers, dainty and small,

Grace Reid Park Zoo, they've answered the call.

From Maryland's embrace, fair Marigold came,

Her delicate frame, a flicker of flame,

And beside her, a male with eyes so bright,

Viazi, the tiny, a spirited sight.

Blue duikers they're named, these creatures rare,

In stature low, yet spirits flare,

African jewels, a treasure untold,

In Reid Park's care, their story unfolds.

In search of fruits, they roam the terrain,

With grace and beauty, they sustain,

Beneath the canopy, they dance and play,

A symphony of life in nature's array.

From birds on high, and primates wise,

They glean their meals, a sweet surprise,

Moisture-rich diets, nature's design,

A wonder to behold, this life's lifeline.

With footfall soft, they share their space,

Amongst ring-tailed lemurs, a tranquil place,

A tapestry of life, harmoniously entwined,

In Reid Park's embrace, new kin they find.

So let us celebrate these duikers blue,

In awe we stand, hearts ever true,

With gratitude we donate this verse,

To honor their presence, a blessing diverse.

May future generations come to know,

The beauty of creatures, in forests they grow,

Reid Park Zoo, a sanctuary of care,

For the duikers' legacy, a love we share.
